And We Returned!

Our very first trip back to the orphanage after our initial discover of it was in November 2014. Our goal was to completely change the way they slept! As you can tell from the first picture, their bed was literally wooden boards. There were no mattresses, no pillows, and barely enough blankets to go around. This broke me. All I could think of was how much we take for granted in the west. These beautiful children sleep on wooden planks. I have no right to complain at all. We immediately went and bought each child a mat, mattress, pillow, blanket, and mosquito net for about $20 each. You should have seen their reaction when we sat them down and distributed each item. It was like a combination of ten Christmas mornings packed into one! What excitement and joy filled the whole orphanage! We then began building a giant bunk bed in the boys dorm that could sleep 26 boys total, 13 on bottom and 13 on top! They had never seen anything like this in their lives. It was such a blessing to be able to pour out to those who have no ability to help themselves. We made a promise to the girls to do the same for them on our next trip back. Out of everything i have ever aspired to do, this has been one of the most rewarding things this life has brought my way. Thank you for helping to change the lives of orphaned children. Not one cent of what you have given has been wasted! For $12 a month, you can make a difference!
