Rachel's Story
From Rejected to Rooted in Christ
Rachel was just five when her mother passed away. Her father—over 70 and unable to care for his children alone—had no relatives to help. Rachel and her two siblings struggled daily, especially when it came to attending school or even finding consistent care.
We met Rachel when she was eight. Bright, full of energy—and a little rebellious—she arrived at our VOHM orphanage needing more than just food and shelter. She needed stability, discipleship, and love.
That transformation began when Rachel was 14. After a difficult surgery, she experienced the compassion of our staff in a profound way. It was through that season of vulnerability that God’s love became real to her. She gave her heart to Christ, was later baptized, and has grown into a thoughtful, dedicated young woman. Today, Rachel is thriving—faithful in church, excelling in school, and walking with Jesus.
At VOHM, we’re not just raising children—we’re raising disciples. Because every Rachel deserves more than survival. She deserves the chance to flourish.
Aaron's Story
From Hiding in Rice Fields to Preaching the Gospel
Aaron was only six when he lost both of his parents. Raised in an animist community within a communist region of Myanmar, his childhood was marked by danger and uncertainty. In his village, it was common for boys to be recruited into the military at a young age. When that threat became real, a brave local pastor hid Aaron in a rice paddy field to save his life—and arranged for him to be taken to safety.
Aaron’s early life was filled with hardship, but God had a greater plan. He was eventually brought into our VOHM Grace House Orphanage, where he found not only refuge, but a family. From the beginning, Aaron showed a sincere heart and a deep love for the Word of God. After hearing the Gospel during his first days at Grace House, he chose to follow Christ—and was later baptized by one of our leaders.
Aaron’s life has since been transformed. He studied hard, dreamed of becoming an engineer, and even won awards for his academic achievements. But when the pandemic and political unrest shut down Myanmar’s schools, Aaron sought God for direction—and felt called to ministry. He chose, on his own, to enroll in Bible school.
Now in his third year of Bible training, Aaron is preparing to return and serve at Grace House and his local church. He is the firstfruit of VOHM Grace House—the first to fully dedicate his life to Christ—and a living testimony of how God can turn tragedy into purpose.
