A moment I will never forget

On April 18 at 1:00pm my naturalization ceremony began. It was a moment in life I will never forget. I remember the very first interview with the USCIS (United States Customs and Immigration Services) in Birmingham AL back in 2008, shortly after Jess and I were married. Fast forward a little over a decade and here I stood, solemnly swearing my oath of allegiance to the United States of America and the Constitution

on which it has stood for two and a half centuries. What a moment, to know I no longer needed green cards or foreign passports, but to be recognized as a citizen upon entry and exit, to enjoy the freedoms this great nation bestows upon its inhabitants. What a moment! I surely will never forget it!
